A Little Bit of Green

Yesterday was CRAZY! We walked into our classroom being completely covered with shamrocks, glitter and over-turned chairs! We found a note from Larry the Leprechaun and he led us on a treasure hunt to find his got of gold. The kids had a blast!

A special note from Larry!

Larry left us special shamrock shaped name tags
that didn't last very long after recess...

Larry got into our whiteboards, markers and even
gave Leonard the Duck a shamrock on his bottom!

He turned over chairs and left our classroom a
mess while he was looking for his gold!
After running all around the school, we finally found
the gold under Miss Clark's desk!

Exhausted but so happy to have yummy popsicles!
The day got even crazier with the Jog-A-Thon! The kids had a blast running. Our top runners were Ryland and Taryn, who both ran 5 laps! On a personal note, I had a blast spraying them with a squirt bottle on the side line :)

Weather & Writing

This week we learned all about weather! We started off by reading "Little Cloud" by Eric Carle. Throughout the story, little cloud changes into many different things. After reading the story, I gave the kids six options of things their cloud could change into. They cut out the shape of what they chose and covered it with white paper their had teared to add a magical, cloud effect. I love how they turned out!

We also learned about rainbows. I taught my kids the colors of the rainbow using this fabulous guy: ROY G. BIV. The kids thought he was hilarious with his spiky rainbow hair! Most of my kids had never heard of indigo and violet so his crazy hair and name definitely came in handy!
After learning all of the colors of the rainbow, we made our own rainbows, labeled with the appropriate color.

Yesterday was a BIG day in EAK! We have been talking about authors and illustrators for a while now but yesterday was the first day I introduced journals to my kiddos. We first chose a topic, families. The kids helped me chart different members of the family: mom, dad, brother, sister, baby, aunt, uncle, cousins, grandma and grandpa.
I modeled how to pick one person from their family they wanted to draw and write about, then let them lose and I was so proud of the results! We are officially authors and illustrators!!

Dr. Seuss Week

We started off Dr. Seuss week by reading one of my all time favorite books, "Green Eggs and Ham." I contemplated making green eggs and ham but decided to spare my kids! Instead, we made our own green eggs and ham.

We read "Horton Hears A Who" and made these adorable Horton ears to show off around Jamacha!
