It's been a busy two weeks...

Sorry I haven't had the chance to post in the last two weeks. Our first few weeks of EAK have been super busy but a blast! Here's what we've been up to...

On our first day of school, we read "The Kissing Hand." It was the perfect way to say good-bye to our moms and dads and start off our first week!
Each one of my little friends got a heart sticker to wear on their hands to remind them how much their moms and dads love them throughout the day when they felt sad. Fortunately, we didn't have any tears!
We talked about feelings and the different things that we all felt on the first day of school. Then we charted our feelings and made our "First Day Feelings" book.

Later in the week, we read the book, "David Goes to School." The kids absolutely loved David and how silly he was at school. They were able to tell me what David should have done to be a good student. We charted about what makes a good student and then drew pictures of David being a good student and making good choices.

Our first big art project was making our "Faces of Room 26." Before we started, we discussed how everyone is unique and special in their own way. Every student got a face that matched their skin color, drew their eyes, nose and mouth. We then ripped construction paper to make our hair. I absolutely love the way they turned out and the kids love how "colorful" our class is!

Today was a really exciting day! We had our first surprise visit from Zero the Hero! The kids absolutely loved hearing about our super hero friend who LOVES zeros. He's great at teaching the kids about the tens place and bringing treats in the shape of zeros of course!
